How E-mail Works
Submitted by Mark on Tue, 04/28/2009 - 00:13E-mail works in a very similar way to web sites. In fact to send an e-mail no more hardware is required than what it takes to view a web page.
Let's take apart a simple e-mail address: name@example.com, and work backwards!
When you send an e-mail to name@example.com, the first steps involved are identical to how a web site works. Your computer goes through the same steps to find example.com as it would say, google.ie
Problems With Sending E-mail

Submitted by Mark on Fri, 07/11/2008 - 09:50I got a question today from John in Galway, He asked about spam e-mail in his Eircom Webmail account.
I have been using the same e-mail address for
about a year, and never had a problem with spam or junk e-mail, but
lately I have been getting swamped with it, I'm using Eircom web-mail
as my e-mail service, Why did the spam only start now? And how can I
stop it?

E-mail Service Providers, What's Yours?
Submitted by Mark on Sun, 06/01/2008 - 12:54What e-mail provider do you use?
I have switched e-mail providers too many times, Starting back in 96 with the ISP hosted address I was given, then moving to Hotmail, back to another ISP one, back to Hotmail, on to Yahoo, yet again back to Hotmail, But finally I found my niche about 4 years ago with the BETA release of Gmail, and have been with that since, Gmail even host my e-mail server for this site!, info@elfknowsit.com
So what e-mail provider do you use? Gmail come out on top?
