KILKENNY is set to remain blanketed under freezing snow and ice for the foreseeable future as arctic conditions show no signs of lettin up.
Overnight temperatures in the region plummeted to almost -11 and did not reach above -10 until at least mid-day today. And according to Met Eireann the cold spell is set to continue with a great deal more snow and sleet on the way.
Sunday is expected to be one of the coldest days yet and there is a risk of snow drifts occuring in the sout east area.
Monday will also be very cold with frequent showers of sleet and snow. Significant accumulations are expected to occur and drifting will again be possible due to strong easterly winds.
