A COMMEMORATIVE statue to mark 100 years of SIPTU has been unveiled in the city.
Commissioned by the Kilkenny branch of the union, the statue was designed by Kilkenny stone carver Aileen - Anne Brannigan.
The centenary statue has been placed on John's Quay opposite Kilkenny County Library and in direct view of the place where the first SIPTU meeting was held in Kilkenny.
The Kilkenny branch of SIPTU was formed in 1917 by James Lawlor of Bennettsbridge.
